Why Autumn is My Favorite Season in Scotland
Every autumn in Scotland, I am reminded why September, October and November are my favorite months to explore. The air feels so refreshing (think cozy knits) as the heather turns purple and leaves on the trees turn vibrant shades of amber and gold - especially here in the northeast along the river Dee. And the best part? There are hardly any midges around to bother you while you explore the stunning landscapes of the highlands.
One of the highlights of autumn in Scotland is the earlier sunsets and the dramatic clouds that come with the change of season. It's a photographer's dream and pure magic you won't want to miss seeing for yourself.
Speaking of magic, I love halloween & folklore, and Scotland has that perfect moody & misty combo and ancient (spooky) castles to get into the spirit. There are also amazing traditions that come from the Gaelic festival of Samhain, marking the start of winter.
Whether you're planning a family trip, a romantic escape, or an adventurous getaway, Scotland in autumn has something is the best kept secret. Explore the fairytale woodlands of Aberdeenshire, take leisurely walks on the dramatic coast at Stonehaven, stand in awe at the shades of moorland in Braemar or simply sit back and enjoy the beauty of nature's seasonal transformation.
Autumn in Scotland is a season of crisp air, golden colors, and iconic landscapes. It's the perfect time to escape the crowds, relish in the beauty of earlier sunsets, and create unforgettable memories with your loved ones.
Let me help you savor this magical season and create lasting memories that you'll treasure forever. Autumn in Scotland is fleeting, but the memories we capture will last a lifetime.
