This session was born from a van breakdown the night before on a Scottish Highlands single-track road, so we leaned into it. A family vacation to Deeside turned into breakdown adventure, complete with cowgirl boots, grassy hills, and a real sense of fun.
We met at Loch Muick and spent around a few hours exploring the area. The kids ran through the hills, threw rocks into the water, and crossed bridges. The mom and daughter wore matching farm girl boots and beautiful outfits that made the photos extra cute. I brought snacks and water to make sure they were hydrated since they were stuck in the middle of nowhere!
These sessions are relaxed and low-pressure. I work with families of all shapes and sizes. You don’t have to perform, just show up ready to have an experience together. These images are more than just photos, they’ll feel like postcards for future generations.
This kind of session fits best in my Adventure Family Vacation Collection
These are the sessions I live for, the ones where we follow curiosity instead of a checklist. Whether you’re a family on the road, dreaming of slow days in the Scottish Highlands, or just someone who wants your photos to feel like adventure… I’m here for that.
I’m Alyssa, an Aberdeen photographer with red hair, who loves drinking too much coffee. I capture families, couples, and quiet magic in wild places. Think playful meets poetic, always with heart. You don’t need to be anything but yourselves, I’ll bring the camera and help shape the story.
Scotland offers so much for families who want more than a studio backdrop. Whether you live the van life full-time or just dream of it, sessions like these at places like Loch Muick are full of freedom and texture. They’re for people who love messy hair, warm flasks of tea, and memories that feel like home.
Whether you’re channeling your inner farm girl, adventuring with your crew, or just pausing to take it all in, these moments deserve to be documented.
