One of the best thing about eloping is that you can really customise your day to be however you want it to be! Many couples don’t realise you can include little activities on your elopement day and it’s such a beautiful way to add sentimental moments and your own personality to your wedding day.
You didn’t want a big wedding with traditional activities, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make the day exciting and fun and special.
As your elopement photographer, I can help you figure out how and when to include these activities in your day, so that your timeline is perfect for you and full of memory making alongside saying I do.
Maybe you’ve already written your vows, but you can use the pure excitement of the day to write personal letters to each other. Or prewrite letters to each other and then write your promises on the day. It’s a nice way to add intention to your morning.

Some couples choose to wait, and others choose to get ready together. You might be in a cosy cabin where your only choice is to get ready together, or maybe you want to have morning coffees, watch the sunrise, listen to the birds together and get dressed together to start your journey forward.

No need to wait for cocktail hour to end and dinner to be served, you can pack all your favourites and have a romantic post vow lunch and laugh and talk about all the things you can’t wait to do together.

Scotland is so special and beautiful. You can say vows almost anywhere, like next to a crystal clear river in the Cairngorms under ancient Scots Pine.

Because it’s a time to celebrate!

Bring your favourite beverage, either to quench your thirst on the long trail, or celebrate with your small wedding party and fill the day with joy.

So cute, and just the right size for 2 and your witnesses. Gum Blossom Bakes do the cutes retro cakes for 2-6 people.

There are so many wild swimming spots in Scotland. Along the River Dee as well as the many lochs around the country. A fun refreshing way to have some fun and feel totally free in the moment.

Once you’ve said your vows, you can put them in a time capsule, along with other ephemera from your relationship. Maybe plane tickets if you were in a long distance relationship, or other love letters. You could also plant a seed together and then watch it grow.

Your day will be full of joy and fun, so of course you don’t have to do all, or any of these. The whole point is so you can be the real you! I love all the moments, big or small, quiet or loud, and especially the in between ones where I catch glimpses of your true love.

I’d love to be your photographer on your elopement day in Scotland. If you want to learn more about my offers, have a little wander: https://alyssakayephoto.com/wedding-photographer-braemar
