When people think about a family photoshoot, they often imagine everyone smiling and facing the camera. Everyone in one place, with a few pose variations, maybe 20 minutes or so, and then they’re done. A family photoshoot in Scotland with me feels very different.

My photoshoots are more like an enjoyable time spent together outdoors. We wander together through a beautiful forest, or along a mountain path, or pause on the shore or river side to toss rocks and collect pine cones. I take whimsical, storytelling photos along the way.

We can genuinely plan the photo session around your family and what a typical morning looks like together for you, with a touch of charm and intention. We’ll make our plan ahead of time, and then go with the flow once we arrive, with a simple activity in mind, and a lot of fun adventure to get there.

No one needs to perform in a certain way, I’m the one who is working! I use my knowledge in light, composition and perspective to craft a story with care while you just be yourselves outdoors. The intention happens in the preparation of the outdoor family photoshoot, with choosing outfits that suit the vision you have for sharing your families story and the activities we choose to do along the way.

Activities you choose can be things like collecting pine cones in a basket, reading your favourite children’s book, flying a kite, stopping to build a sand castle, bird watching, picking wild flowers to braid into your hair, the ideas are endless!

I will help you pick the right location for your family, plan a story based on things you already love to do together. I’ll make sure everything feels like you from the start.
